EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Launch of Catechetical Year has been a time for us to come together as a community of Catechists to celebrate the year that has passed, to share in the joys and the pains of ministry and to look ahead at what the year has to offer. This year, the programme of the launch includes a Eucharistic Celebration with His Eminence, William Cardinal Goh. During the Eucharistic Celebration, His Eminence will also be commissioning the Catechetical Leaders of Children, Youth and RCIA ministries and blessing all the Catechists.

In 2025, we move on from the theme of “Sharing Love” to the theme of “Embracing Hope”. In a world often marked by uncertainty and despair, the Church is called to be a beacon of hope. Pope John Paul II emphasized that "hope, in fact, essentially has a community as well as a social dimension". This communal hope is not merely an individual aspiration but a collective journey toward the fulfillment of God's promises. We are invited to embody this hope through our actions, becoming leaven in the world as we live out our faith in tangible ways.

The theme of "Embracing Hope" invites reflection on how catechesis as community and for community can serve as a powerful vehicle for fostering this hope within the Church.
