Manager - RCIA
General Purpose
Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Director(s) and/or Catechetical Director of the Office for Catechesis, the Manager, RCIA leads, coordinates, and accompanies the catechetical, pastoral, and liturgical formation efforts relating to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) in the Archdiocese of Singapore.
This role seeks to animate lifelong formation, foster communities of accompaniment, and embed synodality as a way of being Church in the area of Adult Faith Formation, in alignment with the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan 2025–2035: Communion in Mission – Vibrant, Evangelising, Missionary.
Key Intentions
Research into RCIA and leverage on those findings to adapt it for the local context within the wider context of Adult Faith Formation as an ongoing journey of discipleship rather than a programme, emphasising conversion, community, and mission.
Align catechetical, pastoral, and liturgical dimensions of initiation with the Pastoral Plan’s call to formation, co-responsibility, and unity.
Strengthen the culture of accompaniment through collaboration with parishes, clergy, and lay leaders, building capacity for lifelong faith formation and evangelisation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Work (Formation & Mission Focus)
Review, develop, and contextualise catechetical curricula and guidelines to reflect a discipleship pathway approach, integrating RCIA within the broader framework of Lifelong Formation for Evangelisation and Mission
Embed the Eucharistic and missionary orientation highlighted in the Pastoral Plan—ensuring all formation connects faith initiation to ongoing evangelisation and service.
Support inculturation and contextualisation of resources to reflect Singapore’s multi-cultural and multi-lingual Catholic community.
Parish Communications and Formation
Coordinate diocesan-level events and formation related to Christian initiation (Rite of Election, Recollection, Retreats.
Collaborate with parish coordinators, clergy, and Archdiocesan organisations to foster a network of RCIA communities that model accompaniment and inclusion, especially for migrants, seekers, and those on the peripheries
Facilitate mutual learning and sharing among parishes, encouraging co-responsibility between clergy and laity
Support parishes in extending initiation programmes beyond Baptism, ensuring sustained post-baptismal accompaniment and mystagogical formation.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting (Governance & Renewal)
Maintain updated records of RCIA ministries and progress indicators aligned with the Pastoral Plan’s Transparency and Accountability enabler.
Gather and share best practices in evangelisation and accompaniment from local and international contexts.
Contribute to biennial Archdiocesan reviews by documenting RCIA formation outcomes and stories of renewal.
Internal Collaboration
Participate actively in OFC and inter-office meetings, embodying the spirit of listening, dialogue, and collaboration.
Perform other duties as needed or requested by the Catechetical Director and/or Associate Director(s).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Has at least three years of relevant ministry and/or catechetical experience in the parish.
Has experience in research, programming and delivering and writing session outlines or in curriculum work
Holds a Diploma certificate at the minimum, and has at least 2 years working experience.
Be an effective team player to support the course delivery within the OFC setup and linking it with the needs of those involved in Adult Christian Initiation and its direct/ indirect communities.
Demonstrated experience in accompaniment and small-group faith formation.
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to engage clergy, catechists, and parish teams in synodal dialogue and collaborative planning.
Good interpersonal and communication skills - able to interact effectively with people at all levels.
Be willing to learn and be adaptable, patient and reliable.
Be willing to work on weekends and public holidays occasionally.
Demonstrate proficiency in - Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Zoom, Google Suites
Be independent and meticulous with good project management and problem-solving skills.
A submission of a session outline done by the interviewee would be required for this application together with a CV with information relevant to the job description listed. Candidates may be called upon to present their session as part of the interview process.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Align with and not opposed to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Physically fit and in good health, with the ability to lift and move items as required.
Willingness to learn and actively contribute to the vision of the Office for Catechesis (OFC).
Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
Proficient in computer use, including common office software.
Ability to multitask effectively and prioritize workloads.
Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Able to take instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Adept at meeting tight deadlines and managing time efficiently.
Catechetical ministry experience and/or parish ministry experience preferred.
