Catechesis calls us to re-envision ways to draw near to the people of our time, to walk alongside them wherever they happen to be, to form believers for mission i.e. by accompanying them in the maturation of the attitudes of faith as well as making them aware that they are missionary disciples (cf. Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization (2020). Directory for Catechesis, 50). In light of this, learning through the witness of the catechist remains a vital method for communicating the faith.
This orientation seeks to help participants discern their call as catechists through a series of reflections, discussions, and presentations concerning the following:-
What is catechesis?
Who is the catechist?
What are the qualities of a catechist?
Ms Wendy Loe - Associate Director, Office for Catechesis
Ms Geraldine Lim - Manager, Children’s Catechesis
Prospective or new catechists, catechetical assistants or facilitators discerning to serve in the catechetical ministries
Volunteers assisting catechetical teams on an ad-hoc basis
*Coordinators are encouraged to accompany their parish catechetical teams and registration is required for coordinators who wish to do so.
Lunch Contribution: $15.00 (includes GST and tea breaks)
*Please note that the Contribution Fee is non-refundable.
